An Upper Moreland Township resident has been sentenced to state prison after pleading guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material, according to a report.
Jeffrey P. Matthews, 41, of Willow Grove, received a sentence of 2 to 4 years in a state correctional facility following a February 2025 investigation. The sentence was handed down by Wendy G. Rothstein as part of a plea agreement.
The investigation began when the Federal Bureau of Investigation alerted Upper Moreland police to suspected online activity linked to a home on Forest Avenue. A search of the residence led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices, where investigators later found images and videos depicting minors.
Authorities also stated that Matthews gave false information to investigators during the inquiry.
As a result of the conviction, Matthews will be required to register under Pennsylvania’s sexual offender laws for 15 years following his release.
During sentencing, Rothstein emphasized the serious harm tied to these offenses, stating that the creation and distribution of such material involves the abuse of children and that those who access it contribute to ongoing exploitation.
