A person was struck by a SEPTA train late Friday morning at the Elkins Park Train Station, triggering a major emergency response and bringing regional rail service to a standstill, according to reports.
The incident was reported at approximately 11:22 a.m. Emergency crews responded to 7876 Spring Avenue in Cheltenham Township, where officials said the individual was trapped and required a rescue operation. The victim’s condition has not yet been released.
In response to the incident, SEPTA has suspended all service to and from multiple Regional Rail lines: Doylestown, Warminster, and West Trenton. The shutdown has caused widespread disruptions for commuters across the region.
Authorities remain on scene investigating, and rail operations are expected to remain halted while the investigation and emergency response continue.
