A routine patrol in Lower Moreland Township led to the arrest of a man driving a stolen vehicle earlier this week, according to police.
An officer from the Lower Moreland Police Department was on patrol April 30 when he spotted a white Toyota Prius traveling along the 2500 block of Philmont Avenue. A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed it had been reported stolen out of Philadelphia earlier this month.
The officer followed the car as it continued through the area before initiating a traffic stop near Terwood Road and Fetters Mill Drive. The driver pulled over without incident.
The driver, identified as Ismoiljon Aliev, 36, of 600 block of Red Lion Road in Philadelphia, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. According to authorities, he was unable to provide basic information about the car, including the owner’s name or address. Dispatchers confirmed the Prius had been reported stolen on April 2.
Aliev was taken into custody at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Charges against Aliev are pending as the investigation continues.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 8, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Thomas P. Murt.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
