A Cheltenham resident contacted police after discovering an unknown male entered their home and and attempted to walk up the stairs before being confronted, according to police.

On May 4, at 4:18 p.m., the Cheltenham Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Valley Road in the Melrose Park section of Cheltenham Township for a report of an unknown male entering a home.

According to the victim, she was inside her home on the couch when she heard a Ring notification that motion had been detected. She then heard the front door open and the unknown male entered the house and began to walk up the stairs to the second level of the home, according to police.

The victim confronted the male and told him to leave the house, and the male complied, according to police. The victim then contacted police.

Upon arrival, officers located a male matching the description walking east on Valley Road just down the street from the victim’s residence. A pedestrian stop was initiated, and the male, later identified as Dana L. Parker, 39, of Cheltenham, told police that he was invited to the residence on the 400 block of Valley Road. The victim told police she did not know the man and she did not invite him to her house, according to police. Parker appeared disoriented or possibly intoxicated, according to police.

The entire incident was captured on Ring camera footage. Parker was arrested at the scene, according to police.

Parker is being charged with a Criminal Trespass felony.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
