Community members will have a chance this week to weigh in on the future of Abington Middle School as the Abington School District prepares to host a public open house on Tuesday, April 21.
The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the middle school, is part of the district’s ongoing effort to involve residents in the design of a new school building. Officials say the event will give attendees an opportunity to review proposed site and floor plans and provide feedback before the project moves further along.
According to Superintendent Jeffrey Fecher, the open house will highlight design elements shaped by earlier community input, including efforts to create a more personalized, smaller-scale learning environment for students in grades 6 through 8.
The April 21 session marks the latest step in a broader, community-driven planning process that has included surveys, staff collaboration, and discussions with nearby residents about potential impacts such as traffic, parking, and stormwater management.
District officials say the project remains on schedule, with plans to go out for bid in the fall and construction potentially beginning next year.
Residents are encouraged to register in advance for the open house, though walk-ins will be accepted. Additional project updates are expected to be shared as planning continues.
