A residential fire broke out Friday afternoon in Upper Moreland Township, drawing a response from local emergency crews.
The incident was reported around 3:29 p.m. near the intersection of Beechwood Road and Fitzwatertown Road. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing flames and heavy smoke coming from a deck at the rear of a home, with the fire extending slightly into the second floor of the structure.
Firefighters responded quickly and worked to contain the blaze. Assisting at the scene were crews from the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad.
Officials have not said whether anyone was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
