Health insurance can be complex, but knowing how to access and use its core benefits can make a significant difference in managing costs and maintaining well-being. An upcoming Penn State Extension webinar will help participants understand the 10 “essential health benefits” and how to use them effectively.
“Smart Use Health Insurance: Your Essential Health Benefits” will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on April 30.
This interactive session is designed for individuals who want to gain confidence in navigating their health insurance, including young adults managing coverage for the first time and farmers and their families seeking plans that meet their needs.
The webinar will cover:
— The 10 essential health benefits, including outpatient care, emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health services, prescription drugs, rehabilitative services, laboratory services, preventive care, and pediatric services.
— How to access and use these benefits.
— The advantages of using the essential health benefits to support health and manage costs.
Through real-life examples, videos, activities such as Smart Bingo, and practical guidance, participants will learn how to choose a doctor, understand their insurance costs and access the care they need. Organizers noted that the tools and insights offered during the session can help individuals make informed health care decisions for themselves and their families.
Penn State Extension offers this webinar free of charge, but registration by April 29 is required to receive the link to access the program. Registrants also will receive access to the webinar recording, which will be available for six months following the event.
