Jordan David Leig Jones, 30, of the unit block of Lumber Jack Circle, was a former Abington Township cop who worked as a school resource officer at Abington High School.

There, he began a flirtatious relationship with a 17-year-old female student, that led to sex outside of school on more than 15 occasions between November 2023 and February 2024. Jones also had relations with a second girl between the ages of 18 and 19 during the 2022-23 school year.

Now, it could cost him 23 months in jail – or less. He also faces a punishment of registering as a sex offender with the Commonwealth for the next 25 years.

Jones, free on bail, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Wednesday to felony institutional sexual assault and attempted institutional sexual assault, per court records.

According to Main Line Times & Suburban, Jones admitted he created “a relationship with (the second victim) with the intent to have indecent contact with her and took substantial steps toward that goal.”

Per the report, Jones has no deals with prosecutors on his sentence.

Assistant District Attorney Lauren E. Marvel told Main Line Times that Jones violated his position of trust; he was charged with caring for the welfare of students, but “he used it for his ability to have access to a 17-year-old girl for sexual gratification.”

Jones’ lawyer, Matthew Scott Brittenburg, painted his client as a decorated police officer who loved his job, but crossed a serious line, but “can no longer uphold that mantle and can never serve the community.”
