Storm damage causes multiple road closures across Abington Township

Residents in Abington Township are being urged to use caution Thursday following severe storms that brought down trees, utility wires and poles across several neighborhoods.
According to the Abington Township Police Department, multiple roads remain closed as utility crews and emergency personnel work to clear debris and restore power.
Current road closures include:
- The 1000 block of Old Huntingdon Pike between Rhodes and Jane roads due to a downed tree and wires.
- Jenkintown Road between High School and Osceola roads because of a broken utility pole.
- West Avenue between Township Line and Jenkintown roads due to another broken pole.
- Mill Road between Susquehanna and Moredon roads because of downed wires and a fallen tree.
- The 700 block of Seminole Road due to a tree down with wires involved.
- The dead-end section of Susquehanna Road because of multiple downed wires, trees and utility poles.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the affected areas and seek alternate routes while repairs continue. Officials also reminded residents to stay away from downed utility wires and report hazardous conditions immediately.
The Abington Township Police Department said updates on additional closures or reopenings will be posted as conditions change.
