Police have charged a man with multiple felonies a violent robbery at an Abington smoke shop that was reported yesterday, according to authorities.

Zafir Taj Hill, 22, of La Belle, has been charged with multiple felony counts of robbery and aggravated assault for his role in the incident.

According to Abington Township Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4:38 p.m. on March 24 to the Abington Smoke Shop, located at 1342 Easton Road, for a report that an employee had been shot in the forehead. However, investigators later determined no firearm was involved and reclassified the incident as an aggravated assault and robbery.

When officers arrived, they found a shattered glass display case and a large rock on the floor. The store employee, who suffered a head injury, was transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital for treatment.

According to police, Hill had been seen loitering outside the store shortly before the incident. Officers later located and arrested Hill nearby along Easton Road.

According to the criminal complaint, surveillance footage shows Hill entering the store wearing a pink hoodie and face covering before throwing a large rock at the employee, striking him in the head. Police say Hill then used another rock to smash a display case and steal jars of THC-A products before fleeing.

Hill was taken into custody a short time later and allegedly found with a bag containing the stolen merchandise, valued at approximately $800, as well as broken glass from the display case. Police also recovered clothing and a face covering matching what was seen in surveillance video.

The victim suffered a serious facial injury, including fractures to the frontal sinuses, according to police.

Authorities say the damage to the store’s display case is estimated at around $2,200.

Hill was unable to post bail, which was set at $50,077.00.

A preliminary arraignment was held this morning. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge John D. Kessler.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
