BREAKING: Police respond to reported shooting at Abington Smoke Shop, according to authorities

[UPDATE]: as of 5:30 p.m., the Abington Police Department is reporting that a "strong-armed robbery" occurred at Abington Smoke Shop, and the suspect is in now custody. 

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

[ORIGINAL STORY]: Police and emergency crews are responding to a reported shooting Tuesday afternoon in Abington Township, according to reports.

The incident was reported around 4:39 p.m. in the 1300 block of Easton Road at Abington Smoke Shop, in the Roslyn section of the township.

According to initial dispatch information, a person had reportedly been shot. Officers on scene have confirmed there is no danger to the public at this time. However, police have taped off the area with crime scene tape. Easton Road is now closed between Woodland Road and Pershing Avenue.

Units from Second Alarmers Rescue Squad were sent to the scene to provide medical assistance.
