Pet owners in Willow Grove will soon have a new option for urgent veterinary care, as VEG ER for Pets prepares to open a 24-hour emergency hospital this spring, according to a company announcement.

The new facility, located at 2862 W Moreland Road, is set to officially open April 2, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The hospital will serve families across Montgomery County, including nearby communities such as Horsham, Abington Township, Upper Moreland, Hatboro, and Jenkintown.

Founded in 2014, VEG ER for Pets has grown to more than 100 hospitals nationwide, with a focus on transforming the traditional emergency vet visit into a more transparent, compassionate experience.

“When a pet parent walks into VEG ER for Pets, they will immediately feel they have finally found a place that will provide their family and pet the best emergency veterinary experience that exists,” said Dr. David Bessler, founder and CEO of the company.

Unlike many emergency clinics, VEG emphasizes real-time care and communication. Pet owners can speak directly with a licensed veterinarian when they call, and treatment begins as soon as they walk through the door, before paperwork is even completed.

The Willow Grove hospital will be open 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays, and will not require appointments. The medical team will be equipped to handle a wide range of emergencies, offering services such as:

  • Emergency surgery
  • X-rays and ultrasounds
  • Advanced diagnostics and monitoring

The location marks VEG’s fourth hospital in Pennsylvania, joining existing sites in Northern Liberties, Cranberry Township, and Pittsburgh.

One of the hospital’s defining features is its open-floor design, which allows pet owners to remain with their animals throughout treatment, even during surgery and overnight stays. The approach is designed to reduce stress for both pets and their families.

Beyond emergency care, VEG supports local communities through its VEG Cares™ initiative, which helps pets in crisis, and by offering scholarships to veterinary students pursuing careers in emergency medicine.
