Police in Abington Township are investigating a burglary and an attempted break-in that occurred Thursday, March 19, in the Meadowbrook and Huntingdon Valley sections of the township.

According to the Abington Township Police Department, both incidents happened during or shortly after dinner hours. In each case, suspects gained entry, or attempted to, by breaking the glass of a sliding door.

Authorities have not released descriptions of any suspects but say the investigations remain active.

Abington officials recommend leaving exterior or interior lights on and activating home security systems to help deter potential burglars.

Police are asking residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity immediately. Officers say they will respond to all calls, even if the situation seems minor.

Residents are encouraged to call 911 if they notice:

  • Unfamiliar vehicles parked or stopped in the neighborhood
  • Individuals walking through yards, especially near wooded or rear areas
  • The sound of breaking glass or other unusual noises
  • Unknown persons or vehicles near neighboring homes

Officials stress that quick reporting can help prevent additional incidents and assist officers in identifying suspects.
