A Cheltenham Township man is facing four felony DUI charges after Montgomery Township Police said they found him slumped over behind the wheel of a vehicle along Welsh Road earlier this year.

Alonso Gilbert Ka White, 32, of the 100 block of Johns Road, was charged following a Jan. 27, 2026 incident in which an officer on patrol discovered a blue Toyota Corolla stopped partially in a travel lane near 1364 Welsh Road, police said. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver appeared slumped toward the passenger seat and was later identified as White, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said White appeared startled when the officer knocked on the window and opened the unlocked driver’s door to check on him. Officers reported that White had slurred speech, droopy and bloodshot eyes and appeared overly animated while moving around inside the vehicle. He reportedly told the officer he was trying to get back to Cheltenham, though he was traveling in the opposite direction.

According to the affidavit, White produced an expired ignition interlock license and admitted he had previously received a DUI for marijuana. Police also learned that his license status required an ignition interlock device, according to the complaint.

A second officer arrived and conducted field sobriety testing. Police said White showed multiple signs of impairment and had difficulty exiting the vehicle, at one point leaning against it while emptying change from his pockets. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to Montgomery Township Police headquarters, where he consented to a blood draw.

Laboratory results later showed the presence of several controlled substances in White’s blood, including THC compounds, oxycodone, oxymorphone, fentanyl and norfentanyl, according to investigators.

Because White had prior DUI convictions in 2014, 2018 and 2024, prosecutors filed four felony counts of DUI related to controlled substances. Additional charges include operating a vehicle without the required ignition interlock system, driving while operating privileges were suspended, driving with a BAC of .02% or higher while license suspended, and a traffic citation for illegal double parking.

Authorities said a summons was requested for White to appear in court to answer the charges.

All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
