Police arrested a woman following a vehicle crash and the discovery of suspected drugs and paraphernalia in her car on February 27.

Latoya Hutchings, 45, of Philadelphia, is facing multiple charges stemming from the incident.

Whitemarsh Township Police responded around 10:25 a.m. to a report of a theft in progress at Giant, located at 10 East Ridge Pike. Officers were informed a suspect had left the store and entered a silver SUV, which then collided with two parked vehicles in the lot.

The driver of the SUV, Hutchings, was found inside the vehicle displaying erratic behavior. Officers noted she was unsteady, slurring her speech, and appeared drowsy. A crack pipe was observed in the vehicle, and further paraphernalia and suspected drugs, including crack and heroin, were recovered during a search.

Hutchings underwent field sobriety testing at the scene, which police say indicated impairment. She refused a blood draw and was taken into custody. Hutchings also had an outstanding probation warrant under an alias.

She was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and the SUV was impounded. Police confirmed the recovered items were secured as evidence.

The investigation remains active, and no additional injuries were reported from the crash.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 18, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. before Judge Dara Nasatir.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
