Driver transported to hospital after crashing into Abington mini-mart, according to report

Emergency crews responded to a vehicle rescue Tuesday afternoon after a car crashed into a gas station and convenience store along Easton Road, leaving the driver temporarily trapped inside the vehicle, according to reports. 

The crash occurred around 4:16 p.m. in the 500 block of Easton Road at the EZ Stop Gas Station & Mini Mart in Abington Township.

According to initial reports, the entire vehicle traveled into the storefront, causing heavy structural damage to the building. Debris from the crash initially prevented the driver from exiting the vehicle, though the driver was reported to be conscious when first responders arrived.

Firefighters from the Weldon Fire Company and Roslyn Fire Company responded to assist at the scene and secure the damaged structure. Officers from the Abington Township Police Department were also on location.

One person was transported from the scene by Community Ambulance Association of Ambler to a nearby hospital. Officials have not yet released details on the extent of the person’s injuries.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
