A routine patrol by police in Upper Moreland Township led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a driver earlier this week, according to police.

Rajab Khakimov, 34, of Abington, is facing a felony charge of Receiving Stolen Property.

According to the Upper Moreland Township Police Department, an officer was on patrol around 2:14 p.m. on March 3 when they spotted a black Chevrolet Malibu traveling northbound on York Road.

After running the vehicle’s Pennsylvania registration through the National Crime Information Center database, the officer determined the vehicle had been reported stolen a day earlier by the Philadelphia Police Department.

Police followed the vehicle as it continued north and conducted a traffic stop near the 100 block of York Road, just after the car crossed Moreland Road into Upper Moreland.

The driver, identified as Khakimov, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
