Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery, Caucus Chair) has announced $490,994 in grant funding for 32 local fire companies and emergency medical services (EMS) departments through the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

The funding comes through Pennsylvania’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, which provides critical financial support to first responders across the Commonwealth for facility improvements, lifesaving equipment, protective gear, training, certification, and other operational needs.

Locally, the Wissahickon Fire Company will receive a total of $16,137 as part of the investment.

“All of us deserve to feel safe in our homes, at work and in our communities,” said Senator Collett. “We owe that sense of safety to the local firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and other first responders who have bravely answered the call to service. I’m proud to support these grants each year to secure the equipment and training our fire companies and EMS providers need to protect themselves and our communities.”

The grants will directly benefit fire and EMS providers serving communities throughout Montgomery County’s 12th Senatorial District, strengthening emergency response capabilities and helping volunteer and career departments offset rising costs. Funding levels vary based on department type and need, with awards supporting both fire suppression services and EMS operations.

By investing nearly half a million dollars into local emergency services, the program reinforces Pennsylvania’s commitment to public safety and ensures first responders have the resources necessary to continue protecting residents across the district.
