Abington Township officials are inviting residents to weigh in on local housing, community and economic development needs during an upcoming public hearing tied to federal funding.
The Township of Abington will hold the hearing on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Township Building, 1176 Old York Road, in the first-floor conference room. Residents may also participate virtually.
The meeting will focus on the township’s Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Action Plan, which must be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program.
Abington anticipates receiving approximately $715,339 in CDBG funding for FY 2026, based on this year’s allocation. Federal guidelines require that at least 70% of the funds benefit low- to moderate-income residents within the township.
To qualify for the funding, the township must prepare a one-year Annual Action Plan outlining how the money will be used. Officials say the public hearing is an opportunity for residents, community groups and other stakeholders to help shape those priorities.
Residents can attend in person or join the meeting online via Zoom at us06web.zoom.us/s/83418609568. Participants may also listen by phone by calling 309-205-3325 and entering meeting ID 834 1860 9568.
Anyone in need of accommodations to participate can contact the township’s Community Development Department at 267-536-1000, ext. 5, or by email at [email protected]
Hearing-impaired residents may call Pennsylvania Relay at 711. Spanish-language interpretation will be provided upon request.
All interested residents are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to provide oral or written comments about community needs and how CDBG funds should be spent in the coming year. Written comments may be mailed to the Community Development Department at 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, or submitted by email to [email protected]
