Upper Dublin completed a sweep of District 1 basketball championships as both the Cardinals’ boys and girls teams captured titles during the same week, cementing one of the most successful seasons in program history.

The girls team capped a dominant postseason run by defeating Pennsbury 46-18 to win the District 1 Class 6A girls basketball championship Sunday afternoon at Hagan Arena, securing the program’s first district title since the 2006-07 season.

The top-seeded Cardinals set the tone early and never trailed, using strong defense and efficient offense to control the game from the opening minutes. Senior Emilia Coleman led Upper Dublin with a game-high 17 points.

Senior point guard Megan Ngo directed the offense and made an impact across the stat sheet, totaling eight points, eight assists, six steals and three rebounds.

The Cardinals held Pennsbury to one field goal in the first quarter and built an 11-3 lead after one period. The Falcons struggled to find consistent scoring opportunities against Upper Dublin’s pressure and trailed 22–5 at halftime after shooting just 2-for-16 from the floor in the first half.

The Cardinals forced 11 turnovers, including eight steals, while limiting Pennsbury’s top scoring options and finishing defensive possessions with rebounds.

Boys

The boys team captured its second straight District 1 Class 5A boys basketball championship, holding off Penncrest for a 47–44 victory in a tightly contested title game.

Senior point guard Kobe Bazemore finished with 11 points and five steals.

The final quarter featured multiple lead changes. Penncrest briefly went ahead before Upper Dublin regained momentum when Bazemore found Justin Ragsdale cutting to the basket for a three-point play.

Defense sealed the victory late. Ragsdale recorded a key block in the paint, and Jackson added another with 15 seconds remaining to preserve the lead. Bazemore split a pair of free throws in the final seconds to extend the margin to three, and Penncrest’s last-second three-point attempt fell short.

Ragsdale led Upper Dublin with 12 points, while Jackson added 10 and Brandon Altman scored seven.

The win secured back-to-back district titles for Upper Dublin, which made enough defensive stops and free throws in the closing minutes to finish another championship run.
