The Abington School District Board of School Directors addressed the ongoing administrative leave of Abington Senior High School Principal Dr. Alice Swift during its monthly meeting on Feb. 24, offering the community its first public update since the situation was announced earlier this month.
Superintendent Jeffrey S. Fecher confirmed that Swift was placed on administrative leave effective Feb. 12, 2026, following allegations connected to social media activity that district officials said were inconsistent with district values.
The meeting, held at the district administration offices, drew heightened interest from parents and community members seeking additional information about the situation and its impact on the high school.
In prepared remarks to begin the discussion, Fecher acknowledged the concerns circulating within the school community while emphasizing that the district’s ability to share details remains limited.
At the meeting held on Feb. 24, Dr. Fecher gave the latest update on the matter.
"I would like to address a topic that I know has been on the minds of many members of our Abington Senior High School community," Dr. Fecher said. "On February 12th, I sent a letter to high school staff and parents and guardians informing them that the the school principal had been placed on administrative leave due to allegations of social media posts that were not aligned with the values of Abington School District.
"I cannot go into further detail tonight as this is a personnel matter. This investigation is being conducted by a third party and we hope to have it concluded as quickly as possible. I ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this process.
"Our priority remains on supporting our students during this time," Dr. Fecher added. "As we know, consistency is instrumental to their success. I thank our Abington Senior High School administrative team for stepping up to provide continuity and leadership. I'm especially appreciative that our students also have the support of our tremendous high school teachers and staff who provide them with stability each and every day. Thank you."
