Millions of dollars in grant funds out of Harrisburg were directed to further a series of projects in and around Montgomery County.

State legislators in recent days applauded the intended use of monies to provide needed transportation, water, sewer and other infrastructure-related improvements across several localities.

“These investments are vital to the overall health and functionality of our communities,” state Sen. Amanda Cappelletti, D-17th Dist. said in a statement.

Nearly $4.4 million in funds were secured through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Small Water and Sewer Program. Legislators in the House and Senate applauded the collaborative efforts taken to bring funding to their respective districts.

“Each project our municipalities are undertaking – from sidewalk installations and upgrades, to flood mitigation efforts – plays an essential role in ensuring District 17 thrives,” Cappelletti said. “I am proud to have worked alongside my colleagues in the Pennsylvania House to secure this funding, and I look forward to seeing these projects deliver tangible benefits to our neighbors.”

Jenkintown and Cheltenham

State Rep. Napoleon Nelson, D-154th Dist., highlighted four initiatives in Jenkintown and Cheltenham Township that will receive a $1.5 million infusion in grant funding.
