A man is facing felony charges after police say he was caught stealing nearly $100 worth of merchandise from a Wawa in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township, according to police.
Officers were dispatched around 6:33 p.m. on Jan. 13, 2026, to the Wawa located at 816 Old York Road for a reported retail theft in progress. The store manager reported that a white male wearing a black jacket and black pants had left the store carrying a white bag filled with stolen items and was last seen at a nearby bus stop in front of the PNC Bank on Old York Road.
When officers arrived, they located a man matching the description at the bus stop and found him in possession of a large white shopping bag containing items from Wawa. Police identified the suspect as Cory Fischer, 42, of Philadelphia.
Officers returned to the store with the recovered merchandise, where the manager positively identified Fischer as the suspect. Police say Fischer entered the store around 6:15 p.m., concealed multiple items inside the bag, and exited without paying.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was $95.29, according to police.
A review of Fischer’s criminal history revealed three prior retail theft convictions. As a result, police say the lead charge has been upgraded to a felony of the third degree.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2026, at 12:15 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Juanita A. Price.
