Weekend events roundup: Comedy shows, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead tributes, more

  • Things To Do

Ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Dunham brings his “Artificial Intelligence” tour to the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia tonight at 7. See www.xfinitymobilearena.com/ for tickets.

Ensemble Arts

Ensemble Arts Philly presents the following events:

  • The Philadelphia Orchestra performs Mendelsohn’s Italian Symphony on Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 8 at Marian Anderson Hall at the Kimmel Center. Dalia Stasevska conducts. The orchestra also performs John Williams’ Tuba Concerto with soloist Carol Jantsch. Eastman’s Symphony No. 2 also is on the program.
  • Comedian Paula Poundstone performs Saturday at 7:30 at the Kimmel Center.
  • A Martin Luther King Jr. tribute concert is set for Monday at 3 at the Kimmel Center. Tickets are free, but seats must be reserved.
  • The mystery comedy play “Clue,” based on the popular board game, opens Tuesday and runs through Jan. 25 at the Forrest Theatre.
  • Comedian, actor and writer Paul Chowdhry performs Tuesday at 7:30 in the Kimmel Center.

Dance Theatre of Harlem

Dance Theatre of Harlem performs Friday through Sunday at the Zellerbach Theater at the University of Pennsylvania. Shows are scheduled for Friday at 7:30, Saturday at 2 and 7:30, and Sunday at 2. Learn more at pennlivearts.org/.


Poetry slam

The Bless the Mic Mini Slam: Espresso Yourself Open Mic 2026 — Part 1 is set for Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Alvernia University’s Francis Hall in Reading. The evening will feature Chiina Bloodmire, the 2025 Bless the Mic champion. Ten poets will compete. Admission is free, but advance registration is required for all attendees and participating poets. Historical society

The Pottstown Historical Society will hold a general meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at 568 High St. Historian Michael Snyder will discuss Camp Pottsgrove, a local encampment of the Continental Army under Gen. George Washington in 1777. The program will describe the events and hardships of local farmers and their families to meet the needs of 10,000 soldiers and a few thousand horses.


Art exhibition

Montgomery County Community College’s Alumni Art Exhibition runs through Feb. 13 at the Fine Arts Gallery on the MCCC Blue Bell Campus. An opening reception is set for Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. There is free admission to the exhibit and reception. The exhibition features 50 works by the MCCC fine arts program’s alumni and faculty.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from  8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.


Gary Owen

Gaming Expo

The Philadelphia Area Gaming Expo runs today through Sunday at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Montgomery County. Led Zeppelin tribute

Colonial Theatre

The following events are coming up at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville:

The First Laughs Comedy Show takes place Saturday at 8 in the White Rabbit Theater. Featured acts are Joey Callahan, Donna Ottena and Derek Lee. Hosted by Anissa “Ms. Darkchild” Bane.

Grateful Dead tribute act Dead On Live appears in the 1902 Theatre on Saturday at 8.

Broadway at the Colonial Theatre on Sunday at 7. An evening of Broadway tunes with stars from “Wicked,” “Six,” “Floyd Collins” and more. Featured performers are Amanda Jane Cooper, Keri René Fuller and Jason Gotay, led and accompanied by Dan Micciche.

Sellersville Theater

The following shows are coming up at the Sellersville Theater in Bucks County:

  • Bill Kirchen performs Thursday at 8 p.m. He first gained renown as founding father, lead guitarist and vocalist for Commander Cody & his Lost Planet Airmen. His show consists of Commander Cody hits and songs and stories associated with Bob Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival, which he attended.
  • Roomful of Blues takes the stage Friday at 8.
  • The Harry Chapin Band performs Saturday at 8. The group includes the late singer-songwriter’s brother Steve along with Harry’s drummer Howie Fields and bassist/vocalist “Big John” Wallace. Clark Wallace on guitar and Arlen Hlusko on cello round out the group.
  • “A Night of Acoustic Guitar Magic” featuring Rolly Brown, Bunny Barnes and Curt Lippe on Sunday at 7:30.
  • Gary Ho Ho Hoey 30th Anniversary Tour on Monday at 8.
  • Broken Arrow — The Music of Neil Young on Tuesday at 8.
