Abington Township police arrested a man on New Year’s Eve after he was accused of stealing more than $800 worth of merchandise from Macy’s at Willow Grove Park Mall, according to documents.
At approximately 6:46 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2025, officers were patrolling the area of 2500 Moreland Road when they were dispatched to Macy’s, located at 2450 Moreland Road, for a report of a retail theft in progress.
Store security reported that the suspect, later identified as Jason Rodriguez, 39, of Philadelphia, was observed in the men’s department selecting multiple items without paying. Police said Rodriguez allegedly took two North Face jackets valued at $260 each, along with Y parfum valued at $165 and The Most Wanted parfum valued at $135. The total value of the unpaid merchandise was approximately $820.
Security personnel told police that Rodriguez concealed the items inside several large Marshalls reusable shopping bags before exiting the store through the second-floor Old Welsh Road entrance without paying. Store security stopped Rodriguez outside the store and recovered all of the merchandise.
Rodriguez was taken into custody by Abington Township Police. Police noted that he has two prior convictions for retail theft.
