Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) has announced its newest program, Construction Careers and Management, beginning in Fall 2026.
The program will give juniors and seniors from Eastern Montgomery County hands-on experience in carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, project management, and more.
Students will also have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, including OSHA 10 Construction and S/P2 Construction, providing a solid foundation for careers in facilities management, or practical skills they can use at home.
“Students will learn the fundamentals of these in-demand skills while also developing project management abilities, improving communication, and applying sustainable practices,” said Mr. Joe Greb, EASTERN’s Assistant Director. “They will gain direct experience with industry-standard equipment, including chop saws, jigsaws, disc grinders, concrete mixers, tile cutters, drones, hand tools, and more. We are very excited about this new opportunity for students!”
“Our theme for this year is Every Student, Every Day, Every Opportunity,” said Dr. Cathleen Pleasnarski, EASTERN’s Executive Director. “In addition to increasing the number of programs that offer dual credit and getting programs approved as registered pre-apprenticeships, this slogan also means expanding programs so all students who want to attend EASTERN have the opportunity. This program will allow 40 more students to enroll in our school in a construction-related program, which is high-interest career cluster leading to in-demand careers.”
EASTERN has experienced a significant increase in enrollment in its Construction Career Cluster, which includes Carpentry (formerly Construction Technology), Electrical Technology, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). The new Construction Careers and Management program was created to provide an additional pathway for students who remained on the waitlists for these popular programs.
As the year progresses, EASTERN will share additional program details on its website and social media channels. Information will also be provided to participating school districts for distribution to interested students and their families.
