One of the most popular players in the city of Philadelphia will have a new address in Beantown in 2026.
According to multiple reports, Ranger Suarez has signed a contract to pitch for the Boston Red Sox.
The deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, is for five years and $130 million.

Suarez joins a rotation with fellow lefty Garrett Crochet at the top, and veteran righty Sonny Gray likely slotted between them.
The Red Sox are willing to take a gamble on a $26 million AAV for a pitcher who has never thrown more than 157 innings because of how good he has been in the postseason.
Suarez made 26 starts in 2025. If he replicates that for the Red Sox, he will make $1 million per start.
It may seem crazy, but in eight career postseason starts, and three relief appearances, Suarez has a 1.48 ERA, a 1.055 WHIP and one pretty memorable save.

For that postseason track record, the Red Sox believed he was worth the risk.
It was pretty apparent early on in the offseason that the Phillies and Suarez weren't due for a reunion unless his market fell considerably. It did not.
Instead, the Phillies are hoping that top prospect Andrew Painter can fill his spot in the rotation in 2026 and beyond.
Suarez, 30, pitched for the Phillies for eight seasons, but was signed as an amateur free agent way back in 2012. So it'll be very weird to see him in a different shade of red.
Unfortunately, fans won't have a chance to see him in person unless they take a road trip to Boston in May. The only series against the Red Sox is at Fenway Park May 12-14.
It is possible that fans making the trek to Clearwater could see him when the Red Sox roll into town on March 5, assuming he doesn't pitch for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, which currently is unclear.
Suarez wraps up his time with the Phillies with a record of 53-37 and a 3.38 ERA in 187 career games (119 starts). He had 705 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.270 in 762 career innings pitched.
