Abington Township police are investigating an incident in Glenside in which a man allegedly changed the locks on his shared apartment and removed a roommate’s belongings, according to court documents.

According to police, the victim returned to his apartment at 2805 Mt. Carmel Avenue on Dec. 27, 2025, only to find that his roommate, Joseph Massino, 61, of Ardsley, had changed the locks and screwed the windows shut, preventing entry.

Police say Massino had previously told officers he planned to change the locks and was advised that he did not have the authority to do so.

Surveillance footage from 6:50 a.m. on Dec. 27 shows Massino loading a red dumpster full of the victim’s belongings. The dumpster, owned by DGR (David Geppert Recycling), had been rented by Massino for $520, delivered to the apartment that morning, and picked up later the same day.

Police say Massino emptied the victim’s entire bedroom without permission. The victim reportedly lost approximately $1,000 in cash and an additional $10,000 worth of personal belongings.

Massino has been charged with the following felonies: theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Juanita A. Price.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
