Federal prosecutors have charged two Philadelphia men in connection with a series of armored truck robberies and attempted robberies last year, including two incidents that occurred in Elkins Park.
According to a superseding federal indictment, Dante Shackleford, 26, and Mujahid Davis, 24, are accused of taking part in multiple robberies targeting Brinks armored trucks across the region in 2025. Investigators allege that at least two of those crimes, one attempted robbery and one successful robbery last summer, took place in Elkins Park.
The indictment alleges that an attempted robbery occurred in Elkins Park on July 22, 2025, followed by a robbery on Aug. 12, 2025. Authorities say both men were involved in the August robbery, while Shackleford is accused of participating in the July attempt. No injuries were reported in the Elkins Park incidents, though firearms were allegedly used during the crimes.
During the robbery, the suspects ordered a female guard to surrender her firearm before taking off with the cash.
Prosecutors have charged both men with multiple counts of Hobbs Act robbery, a federal offense that involves interfering with interstate commerce. Davis and Shackleford also face additional firearm-related charges tied to the alleged use and brandishing of guns during the robberies.
If convicted, the defendants could face lengthy prison sentences, including the possibility of life imprisonment, along with significant financial penalties.
