Motorists traveling near the Moreland Avenue bridge in Hatboro are being warned to expect increased police presence and strict traffic enforcement as a major construction project gets underway, police recently announced.

The Hatboro Police Department will conduct targeted speed and stop sign enforcement in neighborhoods surrounding the bridge area. Police said drivers who attempt to bypass the official detour by cutting through residential streets or who violate traffic laws should expect to be cited.

Authorities emphasized that warnings will not be issued, noting that traffic violations in Pennsylvania typically result in fines of approximately $170.

The increased enforcement comes as preparations continue for the closure and demolition of the Moreland Avenue bridge.

The project contractor, H&K Group, posted the PennDOT-approved detour route on Monday.

During demolitionho the bridge will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the project.

The bridge replacement project is expected to be completed in December 2027. Additional details regarding the detour and project site are available through PennDOT.

Police are urging motorists to follow the posted detour, drive cautiously, and respect residential neighborhoods during the construction period.
