A former restaurant employee in Maryland has been charged in connection with a credit card theft scheme that included an unauthorized purchase at a Kay Jewelers location in Willow Grove, according to court records.
Authorities say Nauman Nadeem, 40, of Windsor Mill, Maryland, stole a customer’s American Express card after she accidentally left it behind at a Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Odenton, Maryland, on Sept. 21, 2025. Nadeem, who was working at the restaurant at the time, allegedly later used the card to make more than $3,000 in fraudulent purchases across Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Investigators say the customer received a voicemail from a man identifying himself as a manager named “Nauman,” confirming the card had been left at the restaurant. The customer later discovered multiple unauthorized charges on her account.
According to charging documents, the restaurant’s manager identified the voice on the voicemail as Nadeem’s. Receipts from several transactions also reportedly listed Nadeem’s name. Purchases tied to the stolen card totaled $3,224.26 and included transactions at Kay Jewelers in Willow Grove, as well as Macy’s, Hamilton Watch, and a Giant grocery store.
Nadeem has been charged with theft and theft scheme. If convicted, he could face up to 16½ years in prison.
