For the past four seasons, Upper Dublin girls basketball has been defined by one constant: Megan Ngo directing the offense from the top of the key, and delivering pinpoint passes to open teammates.
That familiar sight became historic earlier this month when the senior point guard broke the program’s all-time assists record, cementing her place in Cardinals history.
Ngo surpassed the previous record of 542 assists, set by 2021 graduate Jess Polin, during Upper Dublin’s 50–31 win over McDonogh earlier this month at the Blue Star Showcase. With nine assists in the game, Ngo pushed her career total to 547, officially becoming the program’s all-time leader. She remains on pace to approach 600 assists before the season ends.
“I’ve always felt like my job was to get my teammates shots,” Ngo said in an interview with City of Basketball Love, noting that the record wasn’t a major focus until she realized it was within reach this season.
Upper Dublin head coach Morgan Funsten admitted he once believed Polin’s record would stand for years. Instead, it fell just five seasons later. Funsten praised Ngo’s ability to combine elite vision with ball handling, pointing to her outstanding assist-to-turnover ratio and her consistency over four varsity seasons.
Ngo’s passing ability has been shaped by a lifetime around basketball. Her mother, Jen Zenszer, is a La Salle and Big Five Hall of Famer, and Ngo grew up playing with her sisters before competing in CYO, township leagues, and AAU basketball.
Her journey to the record was not without challenges. A torn ACL ended her sophomore season and limited her mobility as a junior. Now fully healthy as a senior, Ngo has returned to top form, showing the burst, confidence, and court awareness that define her game.
Committed to Fairleigh Dickinson University, Ngo will soon take her talents to the college level. Before then, she continues to add to her record at Upper Dublin.
