Emergency responders were called to the Wyncote section of Cheltenham Township Tuesday afternoon after a hunter was injured during a deer hunting incident.
According to authorities, at approximately 3:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, the Cheltenham Township Police Department, along with the Cheltenham Township Fire Department and Cheltenham EMS, responded to the 7700 block of Green Valley Road for a report of an injured hunter.
Officials said a 48-year-old man who was engaged in deer hunting was shot with an arrow by another hunter. Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to an area trauma center, where he is expected to survive.
The hunter who discharged the arrow remained at the scene, contacted emergency services, and is fully cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has assumed primary responsibility for investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
No additional details were released as the investigation remains ongoing.
