The Upper Dublin School District continues to engage the community through its new podcast series, with the latest episode focusing on inclusion in schools.
Titled What Does True Inclusion Look Like in Our Schools?, the episode features Sarah Whelan, a teacher at Jarrettown Elementary, and Rose Lovejoy, a local parent. Both share inspiring stories of students feeling seen, valued, and included, inside the classroom and across the broader community.
The discussion highlights practical examples of inclusive teaching practices and shares powerful perspectives from parents on how inclusion strengthens the school experience for all students. “Inclusion benefits every student, every family, and every Cardinal,” the episode emphasizes, reinforcing the district’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all.
The podcast series is available on major streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and aims to provide insights into district initiatives, student experiences, and community stories.
District officials encourage families, students, and local residents to listen and engage with the conversation as part of ongoing efforts to promote equity and inclusion across Upper Dublin schools.
This is the third installment in the new series. Previous episodes include:
Innovative Experiences in Environmental Science
For this conversation, Dr. Laurie Smith sits down with UDHS environmental science teachers Christopher Smith and Erin Loch to discuss what inspires their work in the classroom and the innovative learning experiences they design for students—including a hands-on journey down the Schuylkill River to assess water quality and a field investigation in which students studied the biodiversity of the future Jarrettown Elementary School site. It’s a great conversation about curiosity, teaching, and the power of real-world learning.
