Officials will focus on lead remediation efforts across Montgomery County after authorizing a nearly $1.43 million contract last week.
The roughly three-year agreement between the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and Genesis Housing Corporation, of Norristown, will procure services for a “ program to control lead hazards in residential dwellings and provide lead-safe housing for Montgomery County children.”
Officials procured federal funds for the initiative through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Lead Hazard Control Grant.
A previously issued request for proposals netted four responses, according to the agreement. The contract period will take effect on March 1 and continue through May 15, 2029. However, the contract stipulates it’s “contingent upon the availability of funding.”
“The county may extend all or part of this Contract at the discretion of OPH for a period of one or more months and subject to the satisfactory performance of the contractor and the needs of the agency,” the contract states.
The lead hazard control program contract was included in a unanimously passed 11-item package totaling nearly $2.67 million at the meeting county commissioners held Thursday evening at the Abington School District administration building in Abington Township.
There were two agreements pertaining to the Montgomery County Office of Voter Services renewed, with funding each obtained through the county’s general-operational budget.
A roughly $606,360 “election voting systems” support agreement with the Denver-based Liberty Vote USA Inc., formerly known as Dominion Voting Systems Inc. was authorized. While the contract procured a “countywide voting system,” renewal services focused on “software licenses, hardware warranties and election support services for the 2026 term.”
With respect to funding, roughly $305,909 went to hardware maintenance and around $232,451 covered software licenses from the county’s ITS budget, while about $68,000 was designated in election support, which came from the county’s voter services budget.
A $207,120 “election monitoring services” contract with American Monitoring Sales Corporation, of Edgartown, Massachusetts, was also renewed. The six-figure sum covered “continuous signal, electronic monitoring services, including radio frequency monitoring, global positioning satellite monitoring, remote alcohol monitoring, and voice verification monitoring.
“This is the second of two optional annual renewal terms,” the contract states.
Additionally, a $100,000 agreement with Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, of East Norriton, covered a trauma-informed treatment program for children.
The contract stipulates that services aim to “reduc[e] problematic sexual behavior through family-focused treatment, provide support to caregivers with education and tools, strengthen families by addressing trauma, and divert youth from deeper system involvement, and promote healing and resilience.”
The six-month contract stipulates “this is a new service, not previously solicited,” with the service period taking place Jan. 1 and continuing through June 30. A previously issued request for proposals recorded two bids submitted, according to the contract, which “can be renewed for two additional one-year periods or portion thereof based on availability of funds.”
“This initiative reflects a proactive investment in the safety and well-being of Montgomery County’s children and families,” the contract states.
