Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Rockledge Borough Police Chief Oscar Horajecky announce the arrest of Jose Luna, 59, of Philadelphia, who is charged with First-Degree Murder following the fatal shooting of his wife, 48-year-old Alisett Schubert on Feb. 21, 2026.

Rockledge Borough Police responded at 10:05 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, to Huntington Pike and Filmore Streets after a SEPTA bus driver used his emergency system t report a shooting and a description of the shooter. Police arrived to find Schubert on the ground outside of her silver Nissan Murano suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Schubert was pronounced dead at Abington Hospital.

A joint investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau and Rockledge Police was launched. The SEPTA driver told detectives that he was driving southbound on Huntington Pike when he approached a vehicle that was stopped on the roadway. He reported that he heard two or three “pops” and saw a male exit the front passenger seat, then open the driver’s side door and the female fell out of the vehicle. The driver saw the male walk away from the vehicle and he pulled over the SEPTA bus and called in the emergency, including a description of the male. Philadelphia Police found Luna one mile away. As they approached, he put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, but the firearm was out of ammunition. He was then arrested without incident. The investigation found that the firearm was registered to the victim.

Luna is charged with First-Degree Murder, Third-Degree Murder and Possessing an Instrument of Crime. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard on Feb. 22, 2026. There is no bail available for First-Degree Murder, and Luna was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m., March 5, 2026, before Magisterial District Judge John D. Kessler.
