A local electric infrastructure improvement project by PECO in Upper Moreland Township has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, with completion now expected by late March 2026, according to an announcement.
The project, which began in July 2025, is focused on modernizing and strengthening the area’s electric system. While work has been ongoing for several months, PECO officials said construction timelines have been extended beyond the original schedule.
Construction is taking place along:
All work is being performed by PECO crews and qualified contractors.
The upgrades include installing new utility poles and tree-resistant aerial wires, as well as advanced equipment designed to improve reliability. The new devices can automatically detect problems on the system, stop the flow of electricity when necessary, and restore power where possible, which will help reduce the scope and duration of outages.
Tree trimming associated with the project has already been completed. Work on electrical equipment, including poles and wires, will continue through the revised completion date.
PECO noted that some temporary service interruptions may be required to safely complete portions of the project. The company said customers will be notified in advance of any planned outages and encouraged residents to ensure their contact information is current through their online account at peco.com/myaccount or by calling 1-800-494-4000.
According to PECO, the improvements are part of ongoing efforts to modernize the electric grid and enhance long-term reliability for local customers.
