An Upper Moreland Township man, Dante Shurone Newman, 28, of North York Road in Willow Grove, has been sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in Montgomery County Jail for sexually abusing two underage girls he met on social media, according to a report.
Newman, who told a victim that he previously served as a volunteer firefighter in the community, pleaded guilty to corruption of minors and attempted sexual abuse of children for incidents that occurred between August 2023 and November 2024.
In addition to his jail term, Newman will serve three years of probation after parole, totaling about five years under court supervision, and will be placed on sex offender registration for 25 years under Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law. He is prohibited from contacting the victims and must comply with counseling and treatment recommendations.
According to prosecutors, Newman used social media to groom the victims, provided them with alcohol or drugs, and engaged in sexual contact while knowing they were underage. One of the victims became pregnant, and Newman allegedly arranged for an abortion in New Jersey to avoid parental involvement. He also attempted to interfere with the police investigation.
