The Abington Township Board of Commissioners will resume a public hearing next week regarding a proposed development at 1209 Rydal Road, though no testimony or evidence will be presented at that time.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at Penn State University’s Sutherland Building Auditorium, located at 1600 Woodland Road in Abington.
The application, submitted by Chaverim Realty Partners, LLC, seeks conditional use approval under the Abington Township Zoning Ordinance to allow for a Life Care Facility (Continuing Care) and a Nursing Home on the property. The site is currently zoned R-1 Low-Density Residential and is identified as Montgomery County Tax Parcel No. 30-00-61132-00-2.
Township officials said Tuesday's hearing will be limited to procedural matters only. Specifically, the Board of Commissioners will consider appointing Township Solicitor Michael P. Clarke, Esq., as the hearing officer for the remainder of the application process. No substantive discussion, testimony, or evidence related to the project will take place at this meeting.
Following the Board’s decision on the appointment, the hearing will be continued to Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. Township officials said additional details regarding the March hearing will be shared in the coming weeks.
Residents interested in the proposed development are encouraged to attend future hearings, when testimony and public input are expected to be part of the process.
