An Abington Senior High School student is being recognized for his dedication to community service and leadership through the Philadelphia Police Explorer Cadet Program.
Ramone Wright, a junior at Abington Senior High School, was recently honored at the Philadelphia Police Department Explorers Luncheon for his exceptional commitment to the program. Wright received recognition for completing numerous hours of community service and training as part of his involvement with the Explorer Cadets.
The Philadelphia Police Explorer Cadet Program is designed to introduce young adults to careers in law enforcement while emphasizing personal development and community responsibility. The program focuses on building values such as self-discipline, self-confidence, self-respect, teamwork, and a commitment to helping others.
Participants in the program, which is open to young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20, receive exposure to law enforcement through mentoring, classroom instruction, and hands-on training. The goal is to prepare cadets not only for potential careers in policing, but also for success in everyday life.
Cadets who wish to continue pursuing a career in law enforcement are encouraged to apply to the Philadelphia Police Department once they reach the age of 19 and meet eligibility requirements. Those selected can then participate in the testing process and, if accepted, attend the Philadelphia Police Academy.
Community leaders praised Wright’s dedication, noting that programs like the Explorer Cadets help foster leadership skills and civic engagement among local youth.
