Nonprofits prepare for fundraiser dedicated to ACLAMO facility repairs

People have until April 30 to contribute, according to officials

Efforts to cover costly repairs at ACLAMO’s Pottstown facility continue as nonprofit organizers prepare to hold a fundraising event later this month.

The joint event hosted by the Norristown-based social services nonprofit and the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation is scheduled to take place from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at the ACLAMO Pottstown Center, 515 Walnut St.

"Our Pottstown Center is where families come for support, connection, and opportunity, often during some of the most challenging moments in their lives,” an ACLAMO spokesperson said in a statement. “As our work grows, so does the need to invest in this space.”

“Critical repairs and improvements are needed now to ensure it remains safe, welcoming, and fully equipped to serve the families who rely on it,” the spokesperson continued.

Attendees can expect to see contributions make “a meaningful impact on local families,” and donors “can be part of what comes next.” The nonprofit fundraising campaign continues as organizers seek to raise around $31,000 to “cover uninsured repair costs and prioritize remaining roof work” after the facility sustained severe water damage from storms in April 2025.

While it’s unclear how much has been raised so far, people have until April 30 to contribute, according to officials.

“We sincerely appreciate our partners at the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation for standing with us during this challenging time,” the organization said in a statement.

While drainage, structural shelf installation, underpinnings, and waterproofing were needed, funds from the five-figure fundraising goal will be directed to replacing the roof of the aged facility that used to serve as a house of worship. ACLAMO also received a $7,500 emergency grant from the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation in fall 2025, which covered previously completed structural repairs.

Founded in 1977, ACLAMO operates its headquarters in Norristown, with satellite offices in Lansdale and Pottstown, providing educational programs, social services, and access to health and wellness programs to Latinos and other community members.

The nonprofit served 19,400 people last year across Montgomery County, according to Douglas Ferguson, ACLAMO’s director of development and communications. The Pottstown facility is open five days per week and serves between 40 and 50 people per month.

Its food pantry assists between 40 and 50 people per month and employees process between 15 and 20 applications for health care and benefit applications each month.

“With your support, we can strengthen this site and expand the reach of our education, health, and food pantry programs in Pottstown,” the organization said in a statement.

Ferguson stressed the importance of accessibility with the additional satellite facilities, as Pottstown is some 20 miles from the organization’s headquarters in Norristown.

“It’s crucial. I mean the program itself is a vital lifeline to our community out in the marginalized community out in the western part of the county,” Ferguson said last month. “Having a smaller satellite office in the Pottstown community itself on Walnut Street is essential to provide our proven services for local residents who can’t get here.”

The fundraising campaign accepts donations by mail or online.
