A man was arrested after authorities say he stole merchandise from two stores on Old York Road in Abington Township, including a repeat theft at the TJ Maxx in Glenside, according to police.
James Wilson, 35, of Stratford, N.J., is facing multiple felonies stemming from multiple incidents.
James was first observed on March 17 at the TJ Maxx at 1495 Old York Road. A loss prevention officer reported that Wilson concealed merchandise in two backpacks, removed security labels, and left the store without paying. The total value of the stolen items was $319.86.
On March 27, Wilson returned to the same TJ Maxx and was again observed by loss prevention officers concealing merchandise in a black backpack. This time, officers detained him as he exited the store. The stolen merchandise from that incident was valued at $232.73. Loss prevention confirmed that Wilson was also the individual responsible for the March 17 theft.
Authorities later learned that Wilson had first stolen items from the Target at the same shopping plaza earlier that day. Officers say Wilson concealed merchandise in a backpack, walked past all points of sale without paying, and handed the bag to a woman before heading to TJ Maxx. The stolen merchandise from Target was valued at $147.76. Target loss prevention officers positively identified Wilson as the suspect.
Wilson has a criminal history that includes more than three prior retail theft convictions in New Jersey. He now faces multiple charges related to the incidents at TJ Maxx and Target.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9, 2026 at 1:15 p.m. before Judge John D. Kessler.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
