The Upper Dublin Board of School Directors is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on the nine-member board, with the deadline set for Oct. 1.
According to the district’s announcement, the selected candidate will serve the remainder of an unexpired term that runs until Dec. 6, 2027 — essentially a two-year commitment.
The position is open to qualified electors who reside within the Upper Dublin School District. As the board noted in its posting, “The Director position is a volunteer position with a substantial time commitment.” Board members typically participate in twice-monthly public meetings, committee work, and ongoing training.
The vacancy provides an opportunity for a community member to play a direct role in district governance, which includes overseeing the annual budget, approving curriculum, and helping to set long-term goals for Upper Dublin schools.
Residents interested in being considered must submit a written application of interest to the board by the Oct. 1 deadline.
According to the announcement, letters of interest, resumes, certification of eligibility, statements of financial interests, and completed questionnaire must be received by the Board Secretary, Mr. Andrew Lechman, by hand-delivery at the Administrative Offices of the District, located at 1580 Fort Washington Avenue in Maple Glen, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2025.
Any applicant whose complete packet has not been received by Mr. Lechman by that date and time will NOT be considered by the Board for appointment to the office. Letters of interest and resume should include background and experiences (both professional and volunteer) that the applicant believes supports their candidacy to serve as a Board member.
Selected applicants must attend an in-person interview, in public, during a Special Legislative Meeting, on Oct. 13, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Following interviews, it is the intention of the Board to publicly deliberate and nominate a candidate to fill the vacant seat. The successful candidate may take the Oath of Office and be seated as a new member of the Board during the meeting.
