Two people were transported to a nearby hospital after sustaining injuries in a motor vehicle accident in Abington Township on Thursday afternoon, according to initial reports.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Mill Road and Susquehanna Road shortly after 4:15 p.m., prompting a heavy emergency response for what was reported as a vehicle rescue.

Authorities said one of the occupants complained of severe back pain and became trapped inside her vehicle as a result of the collision. First responders were forced to use specialized tools to pry open the door and safely extricate her before she was taken for medical evaluation.

Multiple agencies rushed to the scene, including crews from the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, the Weldon Fire Company, and the McKinley Fire Company, among others. First responders worked to secure the vehicles, assist the injured, and clear the roadway.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
