Traffic stop leads to felony charge for man driving stolen SUV, according to police

The man admitted to police that he took the car for a test drive and never returned it

Bill Tsala Nkolo, 31, of the 5000 block of Stone Terrace Drive in Allentown, is facing a felony charge stemming from a traffic stop in Abington Township.

A police officer from Abington Police Department was on patrol in the area of Old York Road and Rockwell Road in Abington when he noticed a gray Buick SUV.

A records check indicated the vehicle was in stolen status out of Philadelphia as of Sept. 2. 

A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot of First Watch, located at 1423 Old York Road, where the police officer made contact with the driver, identified as Tsala Nkolo, who was removed from the vehicle and detained. 

Tsala Nkolo admitted to police that he took the car for a test drive and never returned it, according to police. This was later confirmed by the owner of the vehicle. 

Tsala Nkolo is facing a felony charge of receiving stolen property.

Tsala Nkolo did not post bail, which was set at $2,577.00

A preliminary hearing for Sept. 11, at 11:00 a.m. before Judge John D. Kessler.
