Dr. Julie Gubernick, Chair of Radiology at Jefferson Abington Hospital, has been recognized with one of the most prestigious honors in her field: the Gold Medallion Award from the Pennsylvania Radiological Society (PRS). The award, which represents the highest recognition given by the organization, highlights her exceptional leadership, dedication to patient care, and contributions to advancing radiology across the state.
As Chair of Radiology, Dr. Gubernick has played a pivotal role in guiding Jefferson Abington Hospital through a period of innovation and growth. Under her leadership, the department has expanded access to diagnostic services, implemented new imaging technologies, and strengthened a culture of clinical excellence aimed at improving patient outcomes. Colleagues credit her with bringing both vision and compassion to her role, making the award a reflection not only of her individual achievements but also of the broader progress her department has made under her guidance.
The Gold Medallion Award is given sparingly by the PRS to individuals whose careers embody service, mentorship, and advancement in radiology. Dr. Gubernick, who also serves Jefferson Lansdale Hospital and is an Alternate Councilor for the PRS, will be formally honored later this month at the society’s annual meeting. The recognition underscores her longstanding influence within both the regional medical community and statewide professional organizations.
Dr. Gubernick’s path to leadership began at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her medical degree in 1990. She went on to complete her internship at Abington Memorial Hospital and her residency in diagnostic radiology through the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. With more than three decades of experience, she has become a trusted expert in her specialty while maintaining close ties to the community where she trained and now serves as a leader.
