Police officers were dispatched to the Abington Arts Center on Aug. 19 for a report of a robbery, according to official documents.

A group of juveniles reported to police that they were robbed in the area of the Abington Arts Center, located at 515 Meetinghouse Road in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township.

The victim and witnesses told police that they were walking through the woods of the Abington Arts Center to get to a park to play basketball. While in the wooded area, one of the suspects lifted his shirt and revealed a firearm in his waistband, and demanded money from the group of juveniles. The victim gave the suspect his money, and then fled to a safe area where he could call 9-1-1.

Police officers were able to detain the suspects in the area of Tuplehocken Avenue and Willow Avenue, which is in close proximity to the park. The victim and witnesses were able to identify the suspects, which include:

Kyla Hollins-Hayes

Quran Hollins-Hayes

Dakota Laskey

A fourth suspect

Furter investigation revealed that the four suspects, along with the victim, were at Willow Grove Park Mall prior to the incident. According to documents, the four suspects knew the victim had more than $100 on him, and they devised a plan to rob him.

Kyla Hollins-Hayes, Quran Hollins-Hayes, and Laskey took a bus from Willow Grove Park Mall to the area of ACME, located at 323 Old York Road. After getting off the bus, the group walked toward the Abington Arts Center.

The victim stated that the group of suspects called him over from a short distance away. The suspects isolated the victim, pulled masks over their faces, and demanded cash.

One suspect told the victim to “Run your money.” The victim originally refused to hand over the money, but when the suspect revealed a handgun in his waistband, and said, “want to see what this gun can do?” the victim feared for his life and handed over $150 to the suspects. The four suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation revealed that Kyla Hollins-Hayes and Quran Hollins-Hayes admitted to being involved in the robbery, according to police. They had agreed upon a cut of the money from the robbery.

Laskey is facing multiple felony charges of robbery.
