A Maryland man is facing a felony charge after being caught with a handgun and resisting arrest, according to police.
Officer from the Abington Police Department were on patrol in the area of 1663 Old York Road in Abington Township when they observed a white GMC Sierra parked in the McDonald’s parking lot.
Officers noticed that the vehicle was unoccupied, and further investigation revealed the car was stolen out of Ohio as of July 30, according to police.
Abington police officers waited in the parking lot for the operator of the vehicle to return. One officer asked a male who walked out of McDonald’s and approached the white vehicle to stop, but the male began to run and got into the car, according to police.
The male, later identified as Dylan Ennis, 19, of Maryland, attempted to start the car and drive away, but police officers were able to open the driver door and pull Ennis of the driver seat before he could put the truck into drive.
During a vehicle search, a loaded semi-automatic handgun – a Smith & Wesson) was found in the middle console.
Further investigation revealed that Ennis has multiple warrants for his arrest. He does not have permission to possess a firearm, according to police.
Ennis now faces felony charge of Firearms not to be carried without a license, and receiving stolen property.
Bail was set at $75,000.
