The SPS Technologies building that suffered a massive fire that caused its closing may be rebuilt on Highland Avenue.
SPS Technologies announced that it will host a community meeting on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to discuss plans for a new facility on Highland Avenue.
The meeting will be held at the Abington School District Middle School Little Theater, 2056 Susquehanna Road.
The announcement comes after the company’s former Highland Avenue facility was devastated by fire and subsequently demolished. For decades, the site played a central role in SPS Technologies’ manufacturing operations and was a major source of local employment. The loss of the facility left not only a physical gap in the community but also an emotional one, as generations of families had worked there and contributed to its long history in aerospace manufacturing.
At the upcoming meeting, SPS Technologies will share its vision to rebuild on the site with a state-of-the-art aerospace fasteners facility. Company representatives will present details of the proposed design, including advanced technologies, sustainability measures, and safety improvements intended to ensure the new facility reflects modern standards and lessons learned from the past.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss the economic and community impact of rebuilding. SPS Technologies anticipates the project will restore many of the jobs lost when the original plant was destroyed, while also creating new opportunities in engineering, manufacturing, and support roles. Beyond employment, the investment is expected to stimulate the local economy, strengthen supplier networks, and reaffirm SPS Technologies’ longstanding commitment to the Abington community.
Residents, business owners, and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend to learn more about the rebuilding process, ask questions, and share their perspectives. SPS Technologies has emphasized its dedication to open dialogue and transparency, recognizing the importance of community input as it seeks to begin this new chapter.
