Michael Walker, of Philadelphia, is facing felony charges of check fraud and theft after cashing fraudulent checks in the amount of $1,487 while working for Digem Movers, located at 2700 Keebler Court in Upper Moreland Township, according to the Delaware Valley News.
According to Upper Moreland Police, in June 2024, a woman hired Digem Movers to transport her belongings from Willow Grove to a new residence. She paid the company after the job was completed.
However, shortly afterward, her bank processed a $726 check made out to an individual, but she never wrote that check. When she contacted her bank, they provided a copy showing a forged signature.
A similar incident occurred on July 3, when another fraudulent check for $764 was cashed. According to police, both checks were deposited at the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union by a man who was identified as Walker.
Investigators reviewing surveillance footage at the credit union reported that Walker was seen wearing a purple Digem Movers shirt during the transactions. He was later identified as one of the movers who had worked on the woman’s relocation.
Walker has been charged with multiple counts of check fraud and theft.
